Autumn is almost over. Soon, the North Country will be covered in snow, glittering dust from billions of pixies. The bone-aching cold will begin.
I wrote Behind Green Glass in the spring, but I set the novel in autumn. I decided that autumn was the perfect time for Isolde to begin her journey, to discover a realm at odds with the decaying environment surrounding her. A significant portion of the novel takes place at the end of October, heightening Isolde’s sense of being haunted and deepening the darkness and mystery surrounding Lyric, the otherworldly boy who watches her.
This is the novel’s first year in print. For some readers this was the autumn of Isolde and The Forgotten Ones’ adventure. I hope that you have enjoyed both the season and their story.
